The rest of the museum is great, so many different forms of art. The walker arts center didn't offer this and I remember not being as comfortable there as I was here in MIA!
This is a local treasure and is not to be missed. Definitely a museum I reccomend none the less. Icing on the cake was that this museum is FREE!!! I went on a Thursday night thinking I'd be able to peruse the museum in a couple of hours, but was overwhelmed by how extensive their collection was.
Ended up spending most of Friday at MIA also.
There was a nursing area as well. The museum houses the Minnesota Artists Exhibition Programan artist-controlled program devoted to the exhibition of works by artists who live in Minnesota. Such a fun way to spend the gloomy days here in Minnesota.
I could sit in that room for "days".
There is so much to see here! The art historian Bevis Hillier organized the exhibition Art Deco at the museum, presented from July to Septemberwhich caused a resurgence of interest in this style of art. I loved how they had a lot of local art to look at, the chair exhibit was one of my favorites.
We were on a charter but so parking wasn't an issue but we were greeted by a tour guide from MIA.
